Healthy Families Travis County (HFTC) is a voluntary, home-visiting program for first time parents and their
families. As a primary prevention program, it is designed to promote healthy parent-child relationships, support
appropriate child development, prevent child abuse and neglect, and enhance family functioning.

The research-based, Healthy Families America model was chosen for its documented success in those areas.
Serving families in the Austin area for over ten years, HFTC is one of only two programs in Texas to be awarded
national credentials for Best Practices by Healthy Families America.

Currently, HFTC serves families who receive prenatal care in local City Clinics of the following zip code areas:
78702, 78723, 78724, 78741, 78752, and 78617; and some area high schools.
Some Performance Outcomes of Healthy Families Travis County include:

100% - No confirmed cases of child abuse or neglect
100% - Children attend age-appropriate well-child check ups
99% - Children receive age-appropriate immunizations
97% - Children have age-appropriate development

Healthy Families Travis County is a program within the Office of Children Services in
Travis County's Health and Human Services & Veterans Services Department.
